Comment les populations (sujets, peuples étrangers, alliés ou ennemis) considèrent-elles les représentations royales qui leur sont destinées ou auxquelles elles participent ? Cet ouvrage, qui reproduit les actes du colloque qui s'est tenu à Valenciennes en octobre 2010, propose quelques éléments de réponse à ces questions, en prenant en compte non seulement les représentations figurées, stylisées, idéalisées ou réalistes des souverains, mais aussi les attributs du pouvoir monarchique, les symboles et logotypes.
